Miriam Japp

Miriam Japp (born August 15, 1968 in Lübeck ) is a German-Swiss actress .

Life

Born in Germany, Miriam Japp grew up in Zurich and passed her Matura there in 1987. She received her training from 1988 to 1991 at the Zurich Acting Academy . She had her first engagement in 1992 at the Konstanz Theater . There she could be seen in classic pieces such as Measure for Measure , The Broken Jug , Miss Julie , The Robbers or Peer Gynt . In 1997 she moved to the Saarbrücken State Theater , where she appeared on stage in Maria Stuart , Nathan the Wise , Kasimir and Karoline and Minna von Barnhelm, among others . Japp has been working as a freelancer since 2004 and has made guest appearances in Germany ( Staatstheater Stuttgart ), Austria ( Theater in der Josefstadt ) and Switzerland ( Volkshaus Zurich , Kaserne Basel , Lucerne Theater , Theater am Neumarkt ).

Miriam Japp also appeared frequently at the Marie Theater in Aarau . In addition to many other productions, she played there in 2010 in Moby Dick based on the novel by Herman Melville . In the same year, Japp had completed a puppet coaching with the Australian puppeteer Neville Tranter and led the puppets in Moby Dick himself. At the Marie Theater she is also responsible for selecting plays and editing texts and has carried out various projects.

Between 2001 and 2005 Japp appeared four times at the Bad Hersfeld Festival . For her portrayal of the title role in Iphigenie auf Tauris by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , she was awarded the Great Hersfeld Prize in 2001 .

Occasionally Miriam Japp also works in front of the camera. In 2011 she played a leading role in Urs Odermatt's film Der böse Unkel , and she was seen on television in the Swiss series Best Friends and the Tatort production Between Two Worlds .

In 1998 and 2000 Japp took part in two radio play productions for Saarland Radio .

Miriam Japp lives in Zurich and Berlin. She is the older sister of actress Stephanie Japp .
