Miroslav Broda

Miroslav Broda (born August 29, 1964 in Třinec ) is a German table tennis player of Czech descent. He became German champion in doubles.

Time in the ČSSR

Broda began his career in the Czech Republic. Here he played from 1971 in the Třinec club and from 1974 in Vitkovice Ostrava, with whom he won the national championship five times.

Broda won the Czech team championship five times. From 1979 to 1982 he took part in the European Youth Championships four times. He was second in the individual in 1981. In doubles with his twin brother Vladislav Broda , he reached the final in 1981 and 1982. In 1980 he became European team champion with the youth team.

Broda made his first appearance in the national team at the age of 14. In 1981 he took part in the World Cup in Novi Sad and reached 4th place with the national team. At the 1983 World Cup , the team only came in 10th in 1982, 1984 and 1986 he was nominated for the European Championship . He was second in the team competition in 1982 and third in 1984.

Time in Germany

Broda has lived in Germany since the early 1990s. In 1991 he received German citizenship. Since then he has played with several clubs in the first and second Bundesliga , later also in lower leagues.

In 1998 Broda was German champion in doubles with his brother Vladislav in Saarbrücken . They had already finished third in 1993, and in 1997 they reached the final.

Private

Miroslav Broda has a twin brother, Vladislav , with whom he played in a team at several clubs (e.g. Jülich, Bergneustadt). His older brother Bobuslav (born November 19, 1962) joined Jülich's 2nd team in 1992. He is married and has two children. His son Jan plays in penholder style (in the 2016/17 season) with the third team of TTC Jülich in the association league.
