The TTC Ruhrstadt Herne is a table tennis club from Herne in North Rhine-Westphalia . He played in the 1st table tennis Bundesliga until the end of 2012  .

history

The association was founded in 1919 in the Holthausen district of Herne . The then football and gymnastics club joined the DJK Sports Association in 1921 and took on the name DJK Germania Holthausen . When the DJK was banned by the National Socialists in 1935 , the association also ceased operations, which was resumed in 1947. The football department existed until the early 1960s and was then dissolved.

Subsequently, departments for handball , table tennis and swimming were set up. The club has been a pure table tennis club since 2001. In the 2001/02 season, the first men's team rose to the second Bundesliga. In 2007 the company moved into the newly built hall, the Ruhrstadtarena. The following year, 2008, the club was able to celebrate the second division championship, but renounced promotion to the DTTL . Also in 2008 the association was renamed TTC Ruhrstadt Herne .

In 2010 the championship again succeeded in the second Bundesliga. As a result of improved infrastructural and financial conditions, the club was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga (DTTL, today: TTBL) compared to 2008. At the end of December 2012, the club withdrew the team from the TTBL for financial reasons.

The first team has played in the 3rd Bundesliga North since the 2016/2017 season. There you only play in the middle of the table.

In the 2017/2018 season, the first team in the 3rd Bundesliga North will play in a secure midfield. This season you play with Kanak Jha , Xinyu Yang, Lev Katsman, Uros Gordic, Johan Hagberg and Chenxi Wang.
