history

Today's village Lomonossowo used to include the two villages Denissowka ( Денисовка ) and Mishaninskaja ( Мишанинская ). The villages were originally inhabited by Pomoran "black farmers" ( Черносошные крестьяне ), not serf farmers , who lived mainly from fishing. In 1711, the Russian polymath Michail Wassiljewitsch Lomonossow was born in Mishanskaja, the son of a Pomorian fisherman. After the two villages were united, they were renamed Lomonossowo.

From 2004 to 2014 Lomonossowo was the administrative center of the rural community Lomonosovskoye ( Ломоносовское сельское поселение ), to which 1035 inhabitants (as of 2010) belonged and which included Lomonossowo 32 other villages. In the course of an administrative reform, the rural municipality was merged with the rural municipality of Cholmogorskoje. Lomonossowo retained the status of a Selo (usually a village with an administrative function) but has since been part of the rural municipality of Cholmogorskoje with the administrative center of Cholmogory.
