content

After an evening drinking tour, the office worker Kobayashi meets the dragon Tōru from another world in the forest and frees her from a magical sword. The next morning Tōru stands in front of the apartment of the initially unsuspecting Kobayashi and wants to move in with her - in human form and in maiden costume. Kobayashi, himself a fan of Maids, wants to reject her at first, but finally agrees after Toru's confession of love. The dragon wants to live together with Kobayashi in the peaceful human world, but it is always difficult for her to suppress her inhuman dragon nature. Kobayashi has to hold back and reprimand them again and again.

In Kobayashi's colleague Takiya, Tōru initially sees a competitor. But for the secret otaku and maid fan, Kobayashi is a good friend with common interests. After a while, more dragons, acquaintances of Tōru, appear in the human world. First the little Kanna, expelled from the other world, whom Kobayashi initially hates. But then they become friends and Kanna moves in with them, as she has no other place to stay. As a result, the three of them will soon have to move and, in the end, Kanna even goes to elementary school because she envy the other young children attending school. There the cute Kanna is popular with everyone and befriends Riko Saikawa, who falls in love with her. Kanna follow Fafnir and Lucoa from the other world, who want to check on their acquaintances. Even Fafnir, who has hitherto withdrawn a treasure, surprisingly moves into the human world and with Takiya after a while. Both get on very quickly because they are couch potatoes and like to play computer games. Lucoa or Quetzalcoatl happens to get involved in the attempted summoning of the young magician Shōta. She moves in with him as conjured up by him in order to be able to stay in this world. The young person is completely overwhelmed by this and especially by her attractive body and thinks Lucoa is a succubus .

Finally, Elma also appears, a dragon from the Harmony faction, who is striving for peace with the people. She does not believe that Tōru, which belongs to the competing Chaos faction, is now living peacefully with the people. Elma therefore wants to watch her and looks for a job in order to survive. So she happens to be Kobayashi's new colleague who she has to instruct. Despite a few more arguments, Elma realizes that Tōru wants a peaceful life with Kobayashi. This is eventually disrupted by the arrival of Toru's father, Emperor of Doom. He brings them back to the other world because Tōru does not belong in it and is not allowed to interfere in human affairs. Kobayashi misses her mate until Tōru returns. There is a fight with her father, in which Kobayashi intervenes and explains that she also wants to live with Tōru. Eventually, Tōru's father lets his daughter have her way and the two can continue their life together with Kanna and her friends.

Characters

main characters

Kobayashi

Kobayashi (jap. 小林 ) is a 25-year-old woman living alone who works as a programmer and leads a quiet and uneventful life, which is turned upside down when she saves the life of the dragon Tōru out of gratitude during a night of drinking moves in with her in human form after Kobayashi told her about her secret passion for maids while being intoxicated. Your first name is never mentioned. Kobayashi is a calm and reliable person who faces most situations with stoic composure; However, under the influence of alcohol, which is more common due to her preference for beer, she sometimes loses all inhibitions and tends to have violent emotional outbursts. Because of her appearance and flat breasts (which regularly frustrate her), she is sometimes mistaken for a man. The appearance of Toru and her dragon friends poses emotional challenges above all, as she is not used to being surrounded by others and, apart from her family and her work colleague Takiya, does not have great human relationships, but eventually she gets used to the variety and is becoming more open and cheerful. Tōru's overly intrusive and tricky advances make her shy away again and again and sometimes cause her difficulties, but she also knows how to use Tōru's infatuation when it comes to bringing Tōru under control or to elicit a certain behavior from her; however, she respects Toru's efforts and is secretly happy to have them around.

Tōru

Tōru (Japanese ト ー ル ) is a female dragon from another world and belongs to the Chaos faction there. In her human form, she appears as a young woman with long, blond hair with fiery red tips and eyes with dilated, red pupils; in most cases she also keeps her horns and her dragon tail as a human being, but is therefore considered by most to simply be a cosplayer. Like many other dragons, in addition to her ability to transform into a human, Tōru is also proficient in a number of spells, including opening dimensional portals, which explains the appearance of dragons in the modern world. She has a happy but naive personality, is madly in love with Kobayashi and therefore does everything to be the best possible maiden. She also expresses her love for Kobayashi openly and regularly, which goes so far that, as a running gag of the series, she repeatedly tries to smuggle Kobayashi pieces of her (poisonous) dragon's tail into the food she has prepared, which she always disgusts seen through. In addition to her unwavering loyalty, she is just as jealous and quickly becomes suspicious as soon as she thinks she can sense a rival for Kobayashi's favor. Tōru puts off her original aversion to people after meeting Kobayashi; However, it continues to display a certain feeling of superiority over the species that are “inferior” for it and therefore has to be regularly put in its place by Kobayashi.

Kanna Kamui

Kanna Kamui (Japanese カ ン ナ カ ム イ ) is a young dragon girl who was temporarily banned from the dragon world after a number of pranks, and a good friend of Tōru. In human form, she is an elementary school age girl with white-lavender hair and blue eyes, which is commonly perceived as exceptionally cute. She is the only known dragon that does not belong to any faction. Although Kanna is older than it appears from her human form, she shows very childlike behavior, is curious, loves games and cute things. She also has a habit of simply eating insects and small animals. Despite her childlike personality, Kanna is more balanced compared to Tōru, she loses her composure less often and has fewer problems with hiding her dragon nature. She draws her strength from electricity, for which she charges herself in the human world with her dragon tail at a socket. After she cannot persuade Tōru to go back to her world with her, Kobayashi offers her to live with her because she cannot go back on her own. Although she initially mistrusted Kobayashi, a good relationship develops very quickly between the two, and eventually Kanna sees Kobayashi as a kind of mother figure, just as she looks up to Tōru like a big sister. In the course of the series, after Kobayashi has registered her at her request and bought her school supplies , Kanna visits the third grade of Oborozuka Elementary School under the name Kanna Kobayashi (Japanese 小林 カ ン ナ , Kobayashi Kanna ), and clearly enjoys being there to be normal children whom they immediately admire without knowing anything of their true nature as dragons. The figure is based on Kannakamuy (Japanese カ ン ナ カ ム イ ), the thunder deity of the Ainu in northern Japan, which is why she says she comes from the island of Ushishir when she imagined at school.

Dragons

The dragons in the series largely correspond to their mythological models, but also have the ability to take on a human form and master various spells. However, they cannot directly choose the human form themselves, rather it is shaped by their personality and their status within the dragon community. The dragons are generally organized into three factions: The Harmony faction is anxious to enable a peaceful coexistence with humans and to worship the gods, whereas the Chaos faction harbors a relentless hatred of people they consider to be inferior, and fights for the supremacy of the dragons and the destruction of the gods. While the Harmony and Chaos factions are openly enemies, the third faction, the observer faction , does not intervene in this conflict. In addition, it is forbidden for the dragons to interfere with other worlds and thus disturb their balance.

Quetzalcoatl / Lucoa

Quetzalcoatl (Japanese ケ ツ ァ ル コ ア ト ル , Ketsarukoatoru ), mostly just called Lucoa (or Lcoa , Japanese ル コ ア , Rukoa ), is a dragon of the neutral observer faction and former Aztec goddess who lost her divine status after being influenced a cursed spirit had caused a scandal related to her sister, similar to the myth of the being Quetzalcoatl , on which the figure is based. When she appears as a person, she is a very shapely woman with blonde hair that ends in green-blue tips and a distinctive heterochromy . Their most noticeable feature is their unusually large breasts. She is wise, always acts in a friendly manner, always has advice on hand for her friends and is generally very carefree about life, but does not like being asked about her past. After she has interfered in a summoning spell of the young magician Shōta to prevent this actually summoning a demon, she moves in as his supposed "summoning" with him. Lucoa shows her human body openly with joy, which Shōta, who is on the threshold of puberty, is completely overwhelmed and repeatedly embarrassed, and also regularly leads to her being taken away from staff in different places because of too light clothing .

Fafnir

Fafnir (Japanese フ ァ フ ニ ー ル , Fafunīru ) is a male dragon and also an old friend of Tōru. Not much is known about his past, except that he had to guard a treasure in a cave for many centuries and developed a deep hatred of people who repeatedly tried to break into the cave and steal some of the treasure, which is why he did Chaos Faction and initially questioned many of Toru's new behaviors in the human world. As a person, he appears as a young man with long, black hair, glasses and dark red eyes. Despite his aversion to people, he befriends Kobayashi's work colleague Takiya and, after Tōru tried in vain to find an apartment for him under the name Takeshi Ōyama (Japanese 大 山 猛 , Ōyama Takeshi ), moves in with him, where he lives developed a great preference for computer games and other pop culture, and secretly enjoys the otaku lifestyle that he adopted from Takiya.

Elma

Elma (Japanese エ ル マ , Eruma ) is a female water dragon and belongs to the Harmony faction. Her human form is that of a young woman with black hair dyed purple at the tips and blue eyes. When she works, she also wears glasses and also hides her horn and dragon tail, which she usually keeps. She is Toru's archenemy in the dragon world, with her conflict based less on personal dislike than on her faction affiliations. As such, Elma is equal in terms of strength, but has different skills and so z. B. unable to open dimension gates like Tōru. After trying in vain to bring Tōru back into the world of dragons and unable to return herself, Elma joins the company in which Kobayashi also works under the name Elma Jōi (Japanese 上 井 エ ル マ , Jōi Eruma ) To make a living independently in the new world, however, has to be learned from Kobayashi, with whom she consequently developed a very good collegial and friendly relationship, initially much to Tōru's displeasure. With this she finally settles their mutual conflict, both for the sake of Kobayashi and so as not to disturb the order of the new world. Elma is persistent, ambitious and hardworking, but also naive, and she finds it difficult to make decisions. She also has a great weakness for food, especially sweets, and is therefore easily influenced.

Ilulu

Ilulu (Japanese イ ル ル , Iruru ) is another dragon of the Chaos faction. Her human form is a woman with a rather smaller stature and red hair, often keeping her dragon arms in addition to her horns and tail. Although she is almost the same age as Tōru, her behavior is much more childlike and characterized by insecurity. In her past she played a lot with people as a child and had a good relationship with them. However, after their parents were killed in a human attack, the other dragons of the Chaos faction convinced them of the wickedness of the humans. She comes to the modern world to destroy the relationship between Tōru and Kobayashi, as she absolutely detests such a coexistence between man and dragon. After she cannot beat Tōru in a fight and also fails to play Kanna against Kobayashi, she tries to seduce Kobayashi herself, which ultimately does not succeed either. When she is later saved from a harmony kite by the intervention of Kobayashi and Tōru , she changes her attitude and later also moves in with Kobayashi, to whom she is now just as drawn as Tōru, which leads to a new rivalry between the two. Nevertheless, for the sake of Kobayashi, they push their differences aside, and Tōru helps Ilulu, like Kanna before, to find her way around the human world.

Damocles / Emperor of Doom

Damocles (Japanese ダ モ ク レ ス , Damokuresu ), also known as the Emperor of Doom (Japanese 終 焉 帝 , Shūentei ), is a high-ranking member of the Chaos faction and Toru's father. He tries to dissuade Tōru from her (desired) relationship with Kobayashi and to bring it back into the world of dragons, especially since he sees the danger of her presence that more dragons will follow her into the human world and thus endanger her order. After Kobayashi stands up for Tōru, he attacks her, but is stopped by Tōru and finally leaves the two of them in peace, since he is aware that his daughter is more powerful than himself. As a person, he appears as an old, bearded man with somber Eyes and a dark robe.

People

Makoto Takiya

Makoto Takiya (Japanese 滝 谷 真 , Takiya Makoto ) is Kobayashi's work colleague. He is initially considered a rival by the jealous Tōru, but sees Kobayashi simply as a "good buddy" and is also a passionate otaku . As such, he has a huge collection of manga and video games and thus arouses the interest of Fafnir, who moves in with him and eventually becomes his best friend. He also works as a mangaka and game programmer and participates in Comiket every year , with Kobayashi always helping him.

Riko Saikawa

Riko Saikawa (Japanese 才 川 リ コ , Saikawa Riko ) is eight years old and Kanna's classmate at elementary school. When Kanna comes fresh into class, Riko is jealous at first, as Kanna is suddenly admired by everyone, and sees in her a rival. After Kanna tearfully declares that she just wants friendship, she accepts it overwhelmingly. Although Riko likes to act in the beginning, is cheeky and not very popular in her class, she becomes nicer and very polite towards other people over time. Riko is in love with Kanna because of her cute appearance; a running gag are her emotional outbursts, which she has every time she comes into physical contact with Kanna.

Shōta Magatsuchi

Shōta Magatsuchi (Japanese 真 ヶ 土 翔 太 , Magatsuchi Shōta ) is a shy elementary school student who comes from a family of magicians and regularly tries himself on his magic skills. His attempt to summon a demon is interrupted by Lucoa, who he now takes for a succubus. As a running gag of the series, he blushes whenever Lucoa is around and regularly runs away in panic when he comes into contact with her conspicuous breasts because he does not know how to deal with this situation. For her part, Lucoa just thinks he's adorable and enjoys playing with him. His father is the director of the company in which Kobayashi, Takiya and Elma work. In the anime, he also goes to the same school as Kanna and Riko, but is already in the fifth grade.

Georgie Saikawa

Georgie Saikawa (Japanese 才 川 ジ ョ ー ジ ー , Saikawa Jōjī ) is Riko's older sister and likes to dress up as a maiden, for whom she has a similar preference as Kobayashi. Because of this, Kobayashi gets on well with her when they first meet, but Tōru less so because she sees Georgie as another rival.
