Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. (abbreviated: MEC, Japanese. 三菱 地 所 株式会社 , Mitsubishi Jisho Kabushiki-gaisha ) is a Japanese company in the real estate industry . As one of the core companies of the Mitsubishi Group, it is one of the 50 largest companies in Japan . The share is included in the TOPIX Core 30 stock indices of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Nikkei 225 .
history
Zaibatsu Mitsubishi began buying and developing land in Tokyo's Marunouchi district as early as 1890 . In 1937 the real estate business was spun off and transferred to Mitsubishi Estate. In 1953 the company merged with the real estate companies Yōwa Fudōsan and Kaitō Fudōsan as a result of the break-up of the Zaibatsu and was listed independently on the stock exchange. In 1989 Mitsubishi Estate became a major shareholder in New York's Rockefeller Group , Inc. (RGI), which it later took over completely.
