The path itself is very varied and has been rated with 84 adventure points by the German Hiking Institute .

course

The hike begins in the historic town of Herrstein in the main street opposite the Bachweg parking lot at the wooden entrance gate of the medieval path. The path leads through the medieval town center with its restored half-timbered houses. Passing the "Oberwörresbacher Kirchenpförtchen" and the "Hankelbrunnen", through a battlement he reaches the clock tower, the landmark of Herrstein. The path then turns left into Uhrturmgasse, then turns right into Schlossweg and reaches Rathausplatz, above whose half-timbered façade the Schinderhannesturm rises. Finally it passes the pillory and leads up the steps to the castle church (plaque with the story of Loretta von Sponheim).

The path continues through the forest to an open landscape with a wide view of the surrounding fields, forests and villages. It continues over the fields, along the edge of the forest and finally over a small wooden bridge over the Hosenbach. At the fork in the road, an information board indicates the nearby village of Niederhosenbach, the likely birthplace of the famous Hildegard von Bingen.

After a further stretch through the forest, the Rabenkanzel natural monument is reached in a few minutes. Then it goes uphill through the forest past the local community Breitenthal. It continues uphill between open fields to the Jammichee natural monument. Then you reach the two-story Herrstein observation tower with a covered resting place.

It continues on winding narrow paths down towards Herrstein. Once in Herrstein, the path follows the Fischbach through the gardens and finally returns to the starting point.
