The Mittelberg is about 517 m above sea level. NHN high, unforested mountain in the west of the Spalter hill country in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The mountain forms a double peak together with the Reckenberg .

The unforested Mittelberg rises in the northwest of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district. To the northeast lies Kalbensteinberg , southeast Igelsbach . The Erlbach flows past in the west . The Igelsbach rises on the southern slope of the mountain . The district road WUG 21 leads south past the summit.
Natural allocation
The Mittelberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Keuper-Lias-Land (No. 11), in the main unit Middle Franconian Basin (113) and in the sub-unit Spalter Hügelland (113.4) to the natural area of the Southern Spalter Hügelland (113.40).
