House Mittelstrasse 56 in Lemgo (house Mittelstrasse 58 on the left )

The building Mittelstraße 56 in Lemgo , a city in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia , was in 1556 by the architect Ludolf Crosman for Johann Koch, who from 1557 was to 1583 Mayor of Lemgo and was married to Anna Corvey from the neighboring house, built. The stone gabled house is a protected monument .

The two-storey step - gable house has elements of late Gothic and Renaissance on its facade . In 1898 a renovation took place, which resulted in a new floor plan and a change in the windows. When the window front was removed, the archway (see old photo below) was broken off in 1959 and restored in 1974 when a passage was built.

A sundial from the construction period has been preserved on the second gable floor . The relief walled in under the window on the upper floor is known as the Wild People . It comes from the previous building from 1370/80, of which parts in the eaves walls and the rear gable have been preserved.
