Mo Il-hwan ( 모일환 ; * May 18, 1999 ) is a South Korean sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Mo Il-hwan gained his first international experience at the U20 World Championships 2016 in Bydgoszcz , where he was eliminated in the 400-meter run with 47.82 seconds. The following year he took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar and reached the semi-finals there, where he was eliminated with 47.70 s. He also finished sixth with the South Korean 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 09.15 min. In 2018 he again took part in the U20 World Championships in Tampere and was disqualified there in the semifinals. At the end of August, he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he was eliminated from the individual semi-finals and finished fifth in the 4 x 100 meter relay. The following year he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Championships in Doha , in which he was eliminated with 46.17 s. He then took part in the Summer Universiade in Naples for the first time and made it to the semi-finals there, but was disqualified there. With the 4 x 100 meter relay he won the bronze medal behind the teams from Japan and China in 39.31 s and with the 4 x 400 meter relay he was eliminated in the preliminary round with 3: 12.01 min out.

From 2017 to 2020 , Mo was the South Korean champion in the 400-meter run.
