Mobile gamers was the name of a German from 2005 appearing on sporadically handheld - Video Games magazine . The publisher was Cybermedia Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, based in Mering near Augsburg .

History and editing

The Mobile Gamer first appeared at the end of 2005. The magazine was brought into being by Martin Gaksch and Andreas Knauf , who both previously worked as editors at Markt + Technik Verlag in Haar near Munich . The first 14 issues of Mobile Gamer could then be obtained directly from the official homepage until the website was discontinued mobile-gamers.deand were available as PDFs .

The booklet only appeared at irregular intervals. The last issue with the number 17 appeared in March 2012.

Since the first edition, the editorial team has mainly consisted of editors who also work for the sister magazine MAN! AC : Ulrich Steppberger (as project coordinator), Oliver Schultes , Thomas Stuch , Philip Ulc , Matthias Schmid , Oliver Ehrle , Max Wildgruber , Michael Herde , Jan Königsfeld , Marcus Grüner , Julia Brauer and Fabian Buyer .

  • Current: This section contains several sub-sections:
    • News: This section contains information on news about mobile entertainment, divided into future hardware, software and import tips for titles not previously available in Europe, as well as short news.
    • Mini-previews: Upcoming releases on the game software market are presented and their potential for evaluation is assessed in advance.
  • Feature: Here z. B. newly released handheld consoles illuminated in detail.
  • Test: The test reports on games published in Europe for all common portable systems ( Game Boy Advance , PlayStation Portable , Nintendo DS , Nintendo 3DS , PlayStation Vita , smartphone , iPhone and iPad ) are a central element of the magazine. The rating is based on a percentage system and the "Mobile Gamer Best Buy Gold Award" from a rating of 85%. The short tests each cover a sixth of a page.
  • Service: The rubric is divided into several sections:
    • "Know-how": Here, technical tricks for specific aspects are explained in order to exploit the hardware's potential.
    • "Office hours": Readers' questions are answered in this sub-heading.
    • "Game tips": Help is available here for games that are already available, in particular complete solutions, cheat codes, passwords and short tips.
  • Multimedia: The first issues presented here short tests of niche systems (Nokia N-Gage , Handy Games, Pocket-PC ) and rated them in a system of ten. Films on Sony UMD were also tested here.
  • Review: A long-term game series is presented on each side. The sub-heading "Retro-Gamer" presented a classic handheld system (e.g. Atari Lynx ) in each issue .
  • Outlook: At the end of each issue, game titles that will appear in the near future are presented.
