history

MZV GmbH was founded in 1979 by Michael Imhoff in Eching. In 1980 the company had seven employees, ten magazine titles (including Stereo, Fono Forum , Penthouse German, Off Road) and a turnover of around DM 10 million. In 1986 the GmbH was converted into a GmbH & Co. KG. The Funke Mediengruppe (then WAZ Group) held 2/3 and Michael Imhoff, as managing partner, 1/3 of the shares.

In 1987, the Welt am Saturday sales department was taken over and a field service structure independent of the publisher was set up. Furthermore, Michael Imhoff was named a board member of the Association of German Magazine Publishers . In 1988 MZV Export / Import GmbH & Co. KG was founded. In the years of change from 1989 onwards, MZV GmbH & Co. KG participated in opening up the magazine market in the new federal states. In 2006, the PDC Premium Distribution Concept was developed to modernize the company. In 2007 a majority stake took place in PARTNER Medienservices GmbH and in 2010 the takeover of the Burda range of objects including the addition of the partner Burda.

The company sells over 500 objects. Around 110 publishers are among the customers of the company, which, according to its own information, had a market share of 18.5% as a press supplier in 2009 and holds 18.8% market share in the train station market segment for special interest titles .
