Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian-Fard

Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian-Fard ( Persian محمدابراهیم طاهریان‌فرد; * 1954 ) is a long-serving Iranian diplomat .

Taherian has served as Ambassador to Afghanistan, Bosnia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Croatia, and Deputy Secretary for Planning and Studies of the Supreme Council for Iranian Affairs Abroad.

Career

From May 1989 to April 1991 he was chargé d'affaires in Kabul . In 1994 he was the first Iranian ambassador to Sarajevo , ( Bosnia and Herzegovina ). From 1998 to 2000 he was ambassador to Kabul . From 2000 to September 4, 2002 he was ambassador to Dushanbe ( Tajikistan ). From November 27 to December 5, 2001, he was a member of the Iranian delegation to the Afghanistan conference led by Mohammed Jawad Zarif . From September 4, 2002 to September 6, 2006 he was ambassador to Islamabad ( Pakistan ). From August 2015 to March 22, 2016 he was ambassador in Zagreb ( Croatia ). From March 22, 2016 to 2018 he was ambassador in Ankara . In 2019, exceptions to the retirement regime were enacted for him and two other ambassadors and he was appointed special envoy of the foreign minister and Iran's special envoy for Afghanistan.
