Mohammad Kiya Darbandsari (born October 9, 1989 ) is an Iranian alpine and grass skier . He has competed in the Grass Ski World Cup since 2008 and took part in the 2011 Alpine World Ski Championships .

Career

Grass ski

Mohammad Kiya Darbandsari initially only took part in grass ski races in Dizin in his native Iran . He started in the World Cup for the first time in August 2008. With 17th place in the Super-G he won his first World Cup points, but fell out of the giant slalom the next day and was 64th in the overall World Cup . Also in August 2009 he took part in the World Cup races in Dizin. This time he finished 13th in the giant slalom and 15th in the Super-G. Three weeks earlier he had also taken part in three FIS races , in which a third place in the Super-G was his best result. In the overall World Cup he was able to improve to 30th place in 2009 . In the 2010 season Kiya Darbandsari took part in the FIS and World Cup races in Dizin. In the FIS races he again achieved a podium place with second place in the Super-G and in the World Cup competitions he achieved eighth place in the Super-G and tenth place in the giant slalom. In September 2010, he took part in competitions outside of Iran for the first time at the season finale in Italy. Here, too, he achieved good results and achieved his best World Cup result so far with seventh place in the Super-G of Cesana San Sicario . In the two slaloms as well as in the giant slalom he was placed among the best 20. In the overall World Cup, he jumped to 15th place, making him the second best Iranian immediately behind Hossein Kalhor (1984) . In the summer of 2011, Kiya Darbandsari only took part in the FIS races in Dizin, where he took the podium twice. In 2012 he did not contest any grass ski races.

Alpine skiing

Kiya Darbandsari has been competing in FIS races and national championships in alpine skiing since 2006. After several victories and numerous podium places in FIS races, he took part in the slalom and giant slalom of the Alpine World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in February 2011 . He had to compete in both competitions in the qualification and could not qualify for the main races. In the giant slalom he was rated 75th, in the slalom he was eliminated in the second round of the qualifying race. In 2014 he took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . In the giant slalom he was 51.
