Hossein Kalhor (born November 14, 1984 ) is an Iranian grass and alpine skier . So far he has taken part in grass ski world championships three times and achieved two podium places in the grass ski world cup . In January 2009 he took part in two races in the Alpine Ski World Cup, but remained without result.

Career

Kalhor lives in the ski resort of Dizin , studies sports management at the University of Tehran and works as a ski instructor in his home country. In the alpine FIS races Kalhor started for the first time in February 2001. In the following years he took part almost exclusively in FIS races in Iran, in which he was mostly able to place in the top ten.

In grass skiing he made his first international appearance at the 2004 Junior World Championships in Rettenbach, Austria . He reached eighth place in slalom, eleventh place in combination, 19th place in giant slalom and 33rd place in Super-G. The next year he started at the 2005 World Championships in his home town of Dizin, where he was 17th in the giant slalom and 26th in the Super-G. In the 2006 season he only took part in the FIS races in Iran and was always able to rank among the top three. In his first grass ski world cup race , the Super-G of Dizin on July 12, 2007, Kalhor immediately took second place, but in the absence of some top runners. The next day he was sixth in the giant slalom. At the 2007 World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách in the Czech Republic , he finished 23rd in the Super-G and 28th in the giant slalom. In Rettenbach, Kalhor finished three times in the top 20 in the final of the 2007 World Cup season , making him 32nd overall. In the 2008 World Cup season , Kalhor achieved the best results again in his home races. He was third in the giant slalom and fifth in the Super-G. He achieved another top 10 result with ninth place in the super combination of Forni di Sopra , which brought him to 28th place overall. In the 2009 World Cup season , Kalhor was among the top 20 three times, finishing 26th in the overall standings. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach, he was 20th in the giant slalom and 22nd in the Super-G. In the overall standings of the 2010 season, Hossein Kalhor was able to improve to 13th place with the help of his good results in FIS races, which he finished tied with the Czech Michal Pohl . In the World Cup he started in Dizin and Cesana San Sicario , his best result was sixth place in Dizin's Super-G.

After Kalhor had only participated in the FIS races in Dizin in the 2011 season, he started in the 2012 season in addition to the FIS races in Dizin again in World Cup races in Dizin and at the finals in Rettenbach. While he had no result in Rettenbach, his best result at the World Cup races in Dizin was fifth in the second of the two Super-G and three podium places in the FIS races. In the overall World Cup, he finished 20th.

At the grass ski races in Iran, a collaboration with the Austrian grass skier and alpine ski trainer Michael Stocker emerged . He looked after the Iranian at the beginning of 2009 in order to prepare him for his first races in the Alpine Ski World Cup , the slaloms in Kitzbühel and Schladming at the end of January. A few days before that, Kalhor completed two FIS giant slaloms in Tyrol, where he drove for the first time on the unfamiliar icy artificial snow slopes. However, he did not finish in any of the FIS races. On January 25th, 2009 Kalhor started in the World Cup Slalom on the Ganslernhang in Kitzbühel as 85th of 86 runners and finished second to last in the first round with a gap of 16.38 seconds in 57th place. Two days later he was eliminated in the first round of the Schladming night slalom. A hoped-for participation in the 2010 Winter Olympics was not possible for him.
