The Ganslernhang (or Ganslern for short ) is a ski slope in Kitzbühel in Austria , on which the slalom of the Hahnenkamm races is held. The slope has numerous terrain transitions and is sloping, making it one of the most demanding slalom slopes in the Alpine Ski World Cup . It is located next to the target shot of the Streif , but has its own target stadium. The name of the Ganslernhang comes from a farm that stood there until 1993 and takes its name from the Gänsbach that flows past .

story

The Hahnenkamm slalom was run for the first time in 1937 on the Ganslern. Even before the World Cup was introduced in 1967, it was one of the annual fixtures on the FIS racing calendar . In the years 1964, 1988 and 1993 the slalom had to be cancelled. In 1998 - as in 1971 - there was an additional slalom in Kitzbühel, but due to the snow conditions the two races were held on a different route this year: it led over the so-called Vorderganslern and the finish shot of the descent to their finish stadium. This route was also chosen in 2007 and 2008 due to the larger spectator capacity. In 2009 they returned to the traditional Ganslernhang. Also in 1954 the slalom was carried out on Vorderganslern.

Below are the years and the routes on which the slalom did not take place on the Ganslernhang - * 1931, 1935 Hahnenkamm ; * 1932, 1936 Ehrenbachhöhe ; * 1954, 1998, 2007, 2008 Vorderganslern .

Record winner on the Ganslernhang is Ingemar Stenmark , who won five slaloms here.
