Career

Michal Pohl drove his first FIS races in June 2005. At the Junior World Championship in July of the same year, his only result was the 37th and last place in the Super-G. The next year he only crossed the finish line in the 2006 Junior World Championships , this time second to last in 38th place. Pohl also had no success in the FIS races for the time being, in his first two seasons he never came under the best 30. In the World Cup , the Czech made his debut on August 11, 2007 in the giant slalom in Čenkovice , but did not qualify for the second round. In September 2007 he took part in a world championship in the general class for the first time, but only achieved placements in the bottom field. He did not start at the Junior World Championships this year.

Michal Pohl won his first World Cup points on July 5, 2008 with 22nd place in the giant slalom in Čenkovice and the next day he reached 15th place in slalom. With these two results he came in 38th place overall in the 2008 season . At the Junior World Championships 2008 in Rieden , his best result was 13th place in the slalom. He finished 20th in giant slalom and 21st in Super-G. In the 2009 season , the Czech competed more regularly in the World Cup for the first time and drove seven out of ten races, but only crossed the finish line twice. He finished 22nd in the Super Combined from Wilhelmsburg and 17th in the Super-G from Marbachegg , putting him in 43rd place overall. At the Junior World Championships 2009 in Horní Lhota u Ostravy he reached ninth place in the super combined, eleventh place in slalom and 16th place in super-G. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach , he was 25th in the super combination, 29th in the giant slalom and 40th in the super-G.

In the 2010 season Michal Pohl was able to improve significantly. He took part in all eleven World Cup races and only dropped out once. He achieved a total of six places among the fastest 15 and at the end of the season finished ninth in the Sestriere slalom for the first time in the top 10. With these achievements Pohl made a big leap forward in the overall World Cup and reached 13th place with the same number of points as the Iranian Hossein Kalhor (1984) . At the 2010 Junior World Championships in Dizin , he narrowly missed the medal ranks twice with fourth place in the Super-G and in the giant slalom. He was also sixth in the super combined and seventh in the slalom. His best World Cup result so far reached Pohl on August 7, 2011 with seventh place in the slalom of Předklášteří . Otherwise he was only one more time in the top 15 in the 2011 season , which is why he fell back to 27th place in the overall World Cup. At the 2011 World Championships in Goldingen , his best result was seventh place in the slalom. In the other competitions, he placed 20th. In the 2012 season , Pohl took part in six of the twelve World Cup races. He achieved placements around 20th place, making him 34th in the overall World Cup.
