Mohammed Saleh Al-Khilaiwi ( Arabic محمد صالح الخليوي; * August 21, 1971 in Jeddah ; † June 13, 2013 ibid) was a Saudi Arabian soccer player . The defender played for Ittihad FC for over ten years and was active for the Saudi Arabian national team .

Career

Mohammed Al-Khilaiwi played for Ittihad FC in his native Jeddah for over ten years from 1989 onwards . With the club he won the Saudi Arabian Championship four times and the Saudi Arabian Cup three times. In 2003 he moved to al-Ahli , where he ended his career in 2005.

National team

Al-Khilaiwi made his debut on October 20, 1992 in a 3-1 loss to Argentina for the Saudi Arabian national team . He scored his first goal on December 16, 1997 at the Confederations Cup against Australia . He took part with the team at the World Championships in 1994 in the United States and 1998 in France and at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . On May 9, 1998, Al-Khilaiwi completed his 100th international match in a 2-1 win in the friendly against Trinidad and Tobago . After a 2-1 win against Iraq on October 5, 2001, he ended his national team career after 163 games. This puts him in ninth place among the football players with the most international matches.
