Momo is a German animated series from 2003 based on the novel of the same name by Michael Ende .

action

The little orphan girl Momo hides on a train and jumps off when she sees the conductor . In the process, she gets to know the little turtle Cassiopeia , who will accompany her in the future and henceforth lives in the ruins of an amphitheater on the outskirts of the city. Together they get to know the children of the city and meet the street sweeper Beppo , who sees in Momo the gift of enchanting people and bringing out the best in them.

However, the mysterious gray gentlemen who appear more and more often and smoke cigars all the time are trying to steal their time from people. So they lie and persuade them to deposit their lifetime in a time savings bank and from there everyone starts to work obsessively to save time. They aimed particularly at the adults because it is more difficult for them to reach the children. Momo tries to defend himself against the machinations of the gray men and to win back and free her friends.

When the world has already turned very gray, the wise turtle Cassiopeia leads Momo into the realm of the master Hora , who is a guardian of time and explains some things to Momo. To prevent worse things from happening, she makes her way to the headquarters of the time thieves and tries to thwart her plans.

Characters

In addition, the rooster and the owl appear as further pets of Master Horas in the cartoon series. The rooster is the guardian of the day and the wise owl is the guardian of the night. Furthermore, the children have different names than in the novel and Gigi is portrayed as one of the children or young teenagers rather than as a young man as in the novel.
