Mona Rüster (born August 10, 1901 , † January 13, 1976 ) was a German table tennis player . She won the world championship once in doubles and once with the German women's team. She was also runner-up in the individual world championship in 1931.

Life

In 1929 Mona Rüster took part in a world championship for the first time. In Budapest she won the gold medal in doubles together with Erika Metzger . This was the first World Cup title for Germany. In the semifinals they surprisingly defeated the Hungarian world class double Mária Mednyánszky / Anna Sipos after falling 2-0 down in sets . Then they won the final against the Austrian doubles Gertrude Wildam / Fanchette Flamm .

In 1931 Mona married Rüster and from then on appeared under the double name "Müller-Rüster".

At the 1931 World Cup , Rüster had to deal with the Hungarians again. In the singles she prevailed against the favorite Anna Sipos . In the final, however, she was without a chance against Mária Mednyánszky ; it was "only" enough for the vice world championship.

In 1932 Müller-Rüster reached the quarter-finals in the individual competition, but was eliminated from the Hungarian Magda Gál . In 1934 she won the gold medal with the German women's team in Paris.

Mona Rüster lived in Berlin. With her club BSG Osram Berlin , she became German champion in 1937 and 1938, and in 1939 she took second place.

In 1938 she married again and was then called Mona Mueck .
