Monica Lanz (born April 8, 1991 in Zwartsluis , Zwartewaterland ) is a Dutch rower . From 2015 to 2018 she won three silver medals and one bronze medal at European championships with eighth place.

Athletic career

The 1.80 m tall Monica Lanz won a bronze medal in eighth place at the U23 World Championships in 2012 . In the following year she competed in two boat classes, in eighth place she took sixth place, in four without helmsman she took fifth place.

In 2014 she took eighth place in the World Championships in the adult class and finished eighth. In 2015, the eighth with Monica Lanz won the silver medal at the European Championships behind the Russians. At the end of the season, the eighth finished sixth at the 2015 World Championships and thus missed the direct Olympic qualification. In the 2016 Olympic season, the Dutch eighth won the World Cup regatta in Varese. After finishing second at the European Championships, the crew in Lucerne qualified as the last boat for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There the Dutch women achieved sixth place.

In 2017 Lanz rowed in the World Cup in a foursome and won the regatta in Belgrade. At the European Championships in 2017 , she finished second behind the Romanians with eighth place. Four months after the European Championships, Lanz competed in the World Championships in Sarasota in a four-man and eight-man position and, as in the U23 World Championships in 2013, finished fifth in the four-man and sixth in the eight. At the international championships in 2018, Monica Lanz only competed in eighth place. She won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Glasgow and reached fourth place at the World Championships in Plovdiv . The Dutch eighth also took fourth place at the 2019 European Championships , and at the 2019 World Championships , the eighth missed the A-final and came in eighth.
