Monika Sperr

Monika Anna Johanna Sperr , b. Koegler (born August 27, 1941 in Berlin ; † November 18, 1984 there ), was a German writer and journalist .

Life

Koegler was born in Berlin in 1941 as the daughter of an authorized signatory . She became a trainee at the Spandauer Volksblatt and worked from 1966 to 1968 for Kurt Hübner and Peter Zadek as a dramaturge at the Bremen Theater . In 1967 she was studying at the theater of friendship in East Berlin . From the late 1960s Koegler lived as a freelance writer in Munich .

In May 1968 Koegler married the Lower Bavarian playwright and actor Helmut Martin Sperr , with whom she published the book Herr Bertolt Brecht says in 1970 . The marriage ended in divorce in June 1969. Monika Sperr published various children's books, novels, but also non-fiction books and biographies in the period that followed. She became known to a broader public, among other things, as the biographer of Therese Giehse . The book Therese Giehse: I have nothing to say , which is based on Giehse's conversations with Monika Sperr, was published in 1973. Sperr's biography about Petra Kelly , which appeared in 1983, was praised: “[Monika Sperr] remains a sensitive, astute reporter who, despite the sympathy she shows Petra Kelly knows how to keep a critical distance. "

Monika Sperr committed suicide in Berlin in 1984 at the age of 43.
