Monika Werner

Monika Werner (born March 10, 1938 in Markranstädt , Leipzig district) is a former German politician ( SED ). She was mayor of Hennigsdorf and a member of the State Council of the GDR .

Life

Werner, daughter of a working-class family, was a member of the FDJ from 1952 , of the SED from 1958 and of the FDGB from 1960 . After graduating from high school , she studied at the Berlin School of Economics from 1956 to 1960 . She completed her studies with a degree in economics and then worked from 1960 to 1962 as an economist at VEB Kohleanlagen Leipzig and from 1962 to 1974 as an employee of the commercial director, department head and director for labor supply at VEB Lokomotivbau Elektrotechnische Werke "Hans Beimler" Hennigsdorf . From 1974 to 1981 she acted as mayor of the city of Hennigsdorf.

From 1962 to 1963 and again from 1967 to 1974 she was a member of the SED management. From 1963 to 1964 she was a member of the ideological commission of the SED district leadership in Oranienburg and from 1976 a member of the SED local leadership in Hennigsdorf.

From 1963 to 1989 she was a member of the People's Chamber , from 1963 to 1967 a member of the Committee on Budget and Finance, then a member of the Committee on Labor and Social Policy. From 1986 to 1990 she was a member of the State Council.

At the Extraordinary Party Congress of the SED / PDS in December 1989, she was elected to the presidium of the party executive committee. After 1990 Werner worked as a real estate consultant in Hennigsdorf.
