Monismania Prize

The Monismanien Prize is awarded to personalities and institutions who advocate the right of uncensored freedom of expression .

history

The prize has been awarded by Uppsala University since 1975 . It was founded by the Swedish film director Kenne Fant. In his film Monismanien 1995 , a one-party state and the effects of the suppression of all free expression are portrayed. The award honors the journalist Torgny Segerstedt , who in the 1930s commented on the rise of the National Socialists in Germany early on, warned of the dangers of trivializing their policies and documented the crimes during the war.
