Monostars is an indie rock band from Munich that has existed since 1995 .

history

The Monostars were founded in 1995 by the two remaining members of the disbanded band Animal Crackers , Lenz Lehmair and Marc Deckert , and the singer Norbert Graeser . In 1996 the band produced their first album at Mario Thaler in the uphon studio in Weilheim , which was released on Veracity at the end of the year .

In 1999 the Monostars went on tour for their second album Passagen with their friends from Munich bands Isar 12 and the Moulinettes as an "Isar Listening" package.

In autumn 2003, after the concerts for the fourth album Not for ever , leaving Marc Deckert and Ralf Nickolaus the band.

The fifth album Neobagism was released in 2007 with Markus Böker on drums and Tim Trachte on guitar . While working on the last album so far Absolut! was joined Dirk Ducar added as an additional guitarist. Absolutely! appeared in summer 2011 on Alfred Hilsberg's Hamburg label ZickZack .

style

The monostars do indie rock with German lyrics. Due to the releases on the Hamburg label What's So Funny About , the band was initially assigned to the Hamburg School as a satellite .

At the beginning the band itself names British bands like Felt and Stereolab or Krautrock bands like Neu! as an influence.

On later albums, the sound becomes increasingly guitar-heavy with influences from post-punk and shoegaze .
