Monterado

Monterado is a place in the municipality of Trecastelli and until 2014 was a municipality in the Italian region of Marche and belongs to the province of Ancona .

Monterado is about ten kilometers inland at the height of the Adriatic coastal town of Marotta between the cities of Fano in the north and Senigallia in the south at an altitude of 161 mslm

history

Monterado was founded on July 13, 1267. At that time, Abbot St. Albertino degli Ubaldini from the nearby Fonte Avellana monastery gave the residents of Fràctula (now Francavilla di Castel Colonna ) permission to build a new fort on a mountain called “Monterado”. On January 1, 2014, Monterado merged with the municipalities of Ripe and Castel Colonna to form the new municipality of Trecastelli . On December 31, 2013, the community had 2,192 inhabitants on 10.3 km². Neighboring municipalities in the province of Ancona were the municipalities of Castel Colonna, Corinaldo and in the province of Pesaro and Urbino the municipalities of Mondolfo , Monte Porzio and San Costanzo .
