Montserrat Torrent i Serra (* 1926 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish organist .

Life

Her mother, who was a student of Enrique Granados , gave her her first piano lessons. She later studied at the Acadèmia Marshall in Barcelona . After an interruption due to the Spanish Civil War , she continued her studies in piano and organ at the local conservatory. In Paris she received lessons from Noëlie Pierront and in Siena from Fernando Germani . Even Helmuth Rilling , Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini and Macário Santiago Kastner were among their teachers. She specialized in the interpretation of Iberian music.

Montserrat Torrent was appointed professor at her hometown Conservatory. In addition to numerous courses that she has given and continues to give, she can look back on an international concert career and has made numerous recordings, especially Iberian organ music.
