The Moon Bay is an 11 km wide and 6 km long bay on the east side of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It lies between Edinburgh Hill and Renier Point .
The bay was known as Maggy's Cove to the first seal hunters to operate in the waters around the South Shetland Islands since at least 1821 . Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations carried out measurements of the bay in 1935 and named it after the name of the nearby island Half Moon Island .
