The Moosbaechel is a 4 km long right tributary of the Moder in the Bas-Rhin department of the French region Grand Est .

course

The Moosbaechel rises in the Northern Vosges in the Forêt domaniale de la Petite Pierre east of Zittersheim . The stream flows - accompanied by the Route Forestière du Mossthal - in a north-easterly direction through the valley of the same name. To the west of Wimmenau , a small stream flows from the Schusterthal to it. The Moosbaechel then feeds a small pond, crosses under the D919 ( Rue Pricipale ) and finally flows into the Moder in Wimmenau, west of the D12 ( Route de Bitche ) at a height of about 210  m .

character

The Moosbaechel flows in an open valley floor on red sandstone floor . It has an average width of about half a meter and a slight gradient of less than 1%. The forests of Moosthal are characterized by the relatively old stock of naturally occurring Scots pines and the planted spruces . Sessile oak , beech and Weymouth pine can also be found in the sandy, very acidic soil .
