The Deception is a German television film by Peter Stauch based on a script by Rainer Berg and Jens Jendrich from 2015 . It is the twelfth episode of the crime film series Murder in the best company with Fritz Wepper as the psychiatrist Wendelin Winter in the lead role.

Josef Stürzelmeyer, sentenced to 13 years imprisonment, comes to the psychiatrist Dr. Wendelin Winter because he is now accused of killing his partner with a knife block. He protests his innocence and says that something is wrong with him. The police and the lawyer assume that Stürzelmeyer is the perpetrator because he was already behind bars for a similar offense. Winter believes in his innocence and cooperates with him.
