Morganza is a village in the US state of Louisiana on the Mississippi River .
John B. Fournet , who is spokesman for the Louisiana House of Representatives , was the principal of the local high school .
Morganza is on the west bank of the Mississippi . The name of the city comes from a not far away former plantation. The majority of the population are white.
The Morganza Spillway , a flood relief structure for the lower reaches of the Mississipp River, is located just upstream , on the right, western bank of which the town is located.
