Morgenstern (Ellingstedt)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Morgenstern is a district of the municipality of Ellingstedt , Schleswig-Flensburg district . Today it has 51 inhabitants (2012).

In the topography of the Duchy Schleswig , Volume 2, by William Lesser "2, published in 1853, the location is described as follows Semi-Hermetic [UFE] , 1 Kathe , 1 Instenstelle and an inn on the road of Schleswig according Hollingstedt and Husum 1, ½ M [eile] southwest of Schleswig; Gottorf Office , Arensharde ; Parish Hollingstedt; School district Ellingstedt . "

On February 23, 1954, there was a large fire in Morgenstern in which the farms of Jürgen Engel, Willy Kühl and Hinrich Kühl burned down completely. Presumably an infrared heater had set straw on fire in a pigsty. The fire spread across the street due to the wind conditions. The fire brigade could not extinguish the fire because the natural water holes were frozen over. The firefighters could only help with the recovery of belongings and were injured and burned. The farmer Ernst Coordts ran back to his burning house because he missed one of his six children. However, his daughter was not in the house, but safe with neighbors. He suffered burns second and third degree.
