Moriz Weitlof
Moriz Weitlof (also "Moritz Weitlof"; born January 26, 1835 in Prague , † March 2, 1905 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer. He became known as a German national politician in the school system of old Austria.
Life
Weitlof studied at the University of Vienna , which made him Dr. iur. PhD. From 1867 to 1873 he was a lawyer in Krems an der Donau . He moved to Vienna and from 1871 sat in the Lower Austria state parliament . During the anti-school movement he helped found the German School Association , which immediately elected him chairman. Thanks to his drive, the association quickly developed into the first and most important national protection association of Germans in Austria. The House of Representatives (Austria) belonged Weitlof from 1881 until 1887th There he joined the German Progressive Party (Austria) , which merged with the Club of the Left to form the United German Left . When the Christian Social Party (Austria) came to power in Vienna and Lower Austria , Weitlof withdrew from political life. He devoted himself entirely to the German School Association. His successor there was his party friend Gustav Groß .
His grave is in Gresten, Lower Austria .
