Morris Steven Titanic (born January 7, 1953 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player of Ukrainian origin, who in the course of his active career between 1970 and 1980, among other things, 19 games for the Buffalo Sabers in the National Hockey League on the position of the left Has denied the winger . However, he spent most of his career in the American Hockey League .
Career
Titanic, who was born to Ukrainian immigrants in Toronto, Canada in the province of Ontario , had a very successful youth. First for two years between 1970 and 1972 with the Niagara Falls Flyers in the Ontario Hockey Association , and after their relocation in the summer of 1972 for a year with the Sudbury Wolves in the same league. There the winger impressed in his last junior year with 121 points scorer in 63 missions - including 61 goals. Due to his performance, Titanic was selected in the first round in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft in twelfth overall position by the Buffalo Sabers of the National Hockey League . In addition, he was the Quebec Nordiques from competing with the NHL World Hockey Association in WHA Amateur Draft in 1973 pulled in the second round at the 17th position.
The striker then decided to sign a contract with the Buffalo Sabers and was used in the course of the 1973/74 season exclusively for their farm team , the Cincinnati Swords , in the American Hockey League . With the beginning of the following season Titanic was in the squad of the new cooperation partner Hershey Bears - also in the AHL - on the ice. During the 1974/75 season , the attacker also made his debut in the NHL and made 17 appearances. In the course of this game year, the striker had severe back problems for the first time, so that he missed many games in the 1975/76 season and completely suspended the following year after a necessary operation. Because of this, only two more NHL appearances were added in the course of his career.
For the 1977/78 season Titanic returned to the Hershey Bears squad and was able to convince with 30 points scorer. The following year, the offensive player found a new employer in the Milwaukee Admirals from the International Hockey League . He then returned to the AHL and ran in his final professional season for the Rochester Americans , before he declared his active career at the age of 27 for an end.
