Moshchena (Ukrainian Мощена ; Russian Мощёная / Moschtschjonaja , Polish Moszczona or Moszczana ) is a village in Kovel Raion , Oblast Volyn region in western Ukraine.
Together with the southern neighboring village Cherkassy (Черкаси) made it to 2016 the district municipality of the same name, on April 17, 2016, the village became part of the newly established settlement community Ljublynez ( Люблинецька селищна громада Ljublynezka selyschtschna hromada ) that Rajonshauptstadt Kovel is 5 km east Direction located.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1543 and belonged to the aristocratic republic of Poland (in the Voivodeship Ruthenia / Chełmer Land) until the third division of Poland , then came to the Russian Empire , where it was in the Volhynian governorate and was called Motschona . In 1918/1921 it fell to Poland and came to the Volyn Voivodeship in the Powiat Kowel , Gmina Stare Koszary . As a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact , the Soviet Union occupied the area. After the German invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, the place was under German rule until 1944 (in the Reichskommissariat Ukraine ), then came back to the Soviet Union after the Second World War and was incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR . Moschtschena has been part of today's Ukraine since 1991.
