Motorola RAZR

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Motorola RAZR , also MOTORAZR, is the name of a range of flip phones from the US manufacturer Motorola . They are among the best-selling cell phones in the world. A special feature of the RAZR series is a flat but wide metal housing. The keyboard consists of a slotted metal plate.

The name RAZR is derived from the English razor ('razor', 'razor blade') and is advertised by Motorola with this pronunciation - so 'RAZR' and 'razor' are homophones . The flat and partly angled design of the mobile phones of the RAZR series is reminiscent of a razor blade.

RAZR V3

The V3 was the first mobile phone to bear the name RAZR and was launched in October 2004 at a price of 750 euros. It has two color screens. V3x

The V3x model continues the RAZR series and expands it with a UMTS- compatible device. It has a 2- megapixel camera, larger and higher resolution displays, and increased battery capacity. However, this is by a comparison to the above. Devices due to increased energy consumption. The maximum call duration that can be achieved with one charge is still considerably lower, while the time in standby mode remained at the same level (call duration: 4 hours, standby: 14 days). In addition, the RAZR V3x is 30 grams heavier and, with a height of 20 mm, around 5 mm thicker than the V3 and V3i (weight: 125 grams, dimensions: 99 × 53 × 19.6 mm). In addition, it does not have the SIM Access Profile , which is becoming more and more important in connection with hands-free systems. A conversation of two hours is possible.

This is clocked at 2 GHz and accesses 1 GB of RAM. In contrast to the RAZR M, it lacks an LTE modem. Otherwise it is the same as the Motorola RAZR M, but is only intended for the European and South American markets. A special feature is the smartphone's almost borderless screen.

RAZR (2020)

The Motorola Razr is a foldable Android smartphone from Motorola Mobility , which was presented on November 14, 2019 and came onto the German market on April 14, 2020.

Synchronization ability

The RAZR's calendar and phone book data can be synchronized with Windows PCs. In Germany and Austria, Motorola supplies the RAZR with Win32 synchronization software called "Motorola Phone Tools". Synchronization works under Ubuntu Linux without additional software, but preparing the system for synchronization is much more laborious than with Windows (status: Ubuntu Linux 7.04 32-bit).

The phone connects to Apple computers with Mac OS X using Apple's own iSync program . The scope of the synchronization is limited, however, with the RAZR V3xx only the address book can be synchronized, but not the calendar and the notes. With the RAZR V3i, however, the calendar can be synchronized.
