History

The Poststation Mound Station was founded in 1860. The settlement created in the vicinity of the station was raised to a municipality (village) in 1901. In 1903 the name of the post office was changed to Timewell . This name increasingly displaced the name of the place in local parlance, although it was never officially changed. This is why the unfamiliar name Mounds Station continues to be used by the responsible authorities.
