Mounir Fatmi
Mounir Fatmi (* 1970 in Tangier ) is a Moroccan artist who lives and works in Paris . He studied in Rome until 1991 and at the Art School in Casablanca until 1998 . He studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.
He works on outdated materials and their uncertain future. With his work he criticizes the illusory mechanisms that bind us to technologies ideologies and their influences in a society in crisis.
In 2006 he won the Uriöt Prize, Amsterdam, the Grand Prix of the Dakar Biennale and the Cairo Biennial Award 2010.

Mounir Fatmi conceives works that explore new ways of encountering other worlds and cultures, and that result in layers of layers instead of associations. His videos, installations, illustrations and language games relate to current events and make our divisions, doubts and wishes visible.
