Mount Atkinson is a 3300 m high mountain in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 5.5 km west-southwest of Mount Craddock in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1957 and 1960. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after Richard C. Atkinson (* 1929), director of the National Science Foundation from 1977 to 1980.
