Mount Bresnahan is a 1630  m high and mainly ice-free mountain with a flattened peak in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 10 km north-northeast of Mount Van der Hoeven on the east side of the Helliwell Hills .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own measurements and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy from the years between 1960 and 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after the American biologist David Michael Bresnahan (* 1947), who worked for the United States Antarctic Program between 1967 and 1968 and from 1968 to 1969 at McMurdo Station and from 1970 was part of the Department of Polar Programs of the National Science Foundation .
