Mount Chapman is a 2715 m high and three-peaked mountain in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises with its very steep slopes and a large cliff on the north side at the western end of the Whitmore Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1962 after the US cartographer William Hanell Chapman (1927-2007) from the United States Geological Survey , which in the exploration of, among others 1958-1959 Horlick Mountains was involved and this expedition on 2 January 1959 performed geodetic surveys of the Whitmore Mountains.
