The Whitmoregebirge ( English Whitmore Mountains ) is an isolated group of three mountains and some Nunatakkern , which extend over a length of 24 km in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . These mountains include Mount Seelig with a height of 3020  m , Mount Radlinski with 2750  m , Mount Chapman with 2715  m and the group of Linck Nunatakkers . Geologically, it forms a unit together with the Ellsworth Mountains as the Ellsworth-Whitmore-Mountains block .

The US cartographer William Hanell Chapman (1927-2007) mapped the mountains on January 2, 1959 as part of an exploration trip by the United States Geological Survey to the Horlick Mountains between 1958 and 1959. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1962 after the American topography engineer George D. Whitmore, cartographer of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research .
