Mount Cyril is a 1,190 m high and ice-covered mountain in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It rises around 3 km south of Celebration Pass in the Commonwealth Range in the Transantarctic Mountains that flank the Beardmore Glacier to the east .
The mountain was discovered by participants in the Nimrod expedition (1907-1909) of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton . He is named after Cyril Longhurst (1878-1948), the secretary of the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) and friend of Shackletons.
