Mount Darling is a 1095 m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It is the highest peak in the Allegheny Mountains in the Ford Ranges and rises 1.5 km west of Mount Swartley .
Scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) discovered it during an overflight. It is named after the botanist Chester Arthur Darling (1880–1963), professor of biology at Allegheny College in Meadville , Pennsylvania , alma mater of the American Antarctic explorer Paul Siple , who headed West Base during the research trip.
