Mount Ditte ( French Massif A. Ditte ) is a 1,400 m high mountain in the Princess Royal Range on Adelaide Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It towers over Cape Alexandra in the southeast of the island.
The mountain was discovered and named during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908–1910) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . It is named after the French chemist Alfred Ditte (1843–1908). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1951 in an adapted form.
