Mount Dover is a 1645  m high mountain with two pointed peaks in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . In the Neptune Range, it rises at the southeast end of the Gale Ridge , where it borders the Washington Escarpment .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from the years 1956 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1965 after the American geologist James H. Dover, who was from 1962 to 1963 The Patuxent Range investigation crew .
