Mount Freed is a 2120 m high mountain in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises on the watershed between Champness Glacier and McCann Glacier in the southern part of the Bowers Mountains .
It was mapped by surveying work by the United States Geological Survey and using aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1960 and 1962. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Maitland Guy Freed (1932-1995), staff officer of the commander of the US support forces -Navy in Antarctica between 1966 and 1968.
