Mount Handsley is a sub-peak of the Knobhead massif in the Quartermain Mountains of the Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises about 2.5 kilometers south-southeast of the main peak and towers over the upper section of the Ferrar Glacier on the northwest side.
Was named the mountain by the New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee after Petty Officer Jesse Handsley (1876-1916) of the Royal Navy , a participant of the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) under the direction of British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott , the together with Scott and four other participants in 1903 undertook an exploratory march to the Ferrar and Taylor glaciers .
