Mount Hastings is a 628 m high mountain in Marie-Byrd-Land . In the Karo Hills, it rises 3 km southeast of Mount Rigby on the western flank of the Scott Glacier .
The first sighting in 1928 goes back to participants in the American Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 1967 after James V. Hastings, who carried out geomagnetic surveys at McMurdo Station between 1964 and 1965 .
