Carl Mau
Carl Asmus Ludwig Mau (born July 31, 1890 in Flensburg , † July 26, 1958 in Hamburg ) was a German orthopedist .
Life
His grandfather was the theologian Heinrich August Mau . After attending the humanistic high school in Flensburg, he studied medicine in Tübingen , Munich and Kiel from 1908 to 1913 . During his studies, Carl Mau became a member of the Tübingen fraternity Derendingia in 1908 .
After completing his habilitation in orthopedics, he succeeded Wilhelm Anschütz as head of the orthopedic department from 1923 to 1928. In 1934 he was appointed professor for orthopedics and director of the Orthopedic University Clinic Eppendorf at the University of Hamburg . After turning down a call to Münster in 1938 , he was appointed personal professor in 1950 and full professor in his subject in 1956.
The orthopedist Hans Mau was his son.
